Michigan State stunned as Illinois completes largest comeback in school history, 37-34

EAST LANSING — Michigan State football and Illinois played a wild game Saturday at Spartan Stadium, with both teams alternating between big plays and critical mistakes.

The Spartans saw their 25-point lead wiped away when Illinois quarterback Brandon Peters — a transfer from Michigan — found Daniel Barker on a 5-yard touchdown with five seconds left giving Illinois a stunning 37-34 win.

With under two minutes remaining, Illinois converted on a fourth-and-16 when Peters threw deep to Josh Imatorbhebhe for 37 yards to the MSU 19.

Illinois then was given a new set of down after a questionable fourth-and-goal pass interference call in the end zone.
