Michigan State didn’t need to go far to bring in the highest-rated signing class of Mark Dantonio’s career in East Lansing.
Of the 22 new players who have sent their letters of intent to the Spartans so far, only two of them come from states that don’t share a border or a lake with Michigan. One of those two, Utah native Mufi Hunt, actually signed a year ago but delayed his start at school to go on his Mormon mission. Michigan State’s coaching staff could have recruited everyone in this year’s signing class other than New Jersey wide receiver Cam Chambers without ever boarding an airplane.
