EAST LANSING -- All the anger and frustration and of the worst stretch in three decades came out in one afternoon of relief for Michigan State.
Michigan State pounded Rutgers, 49-0, on Saturday at Spartan Stadium, for its first win since late September.
The win snaps a seven-game losing streak for Michigan State (3-7, 1-6). It was the Spartans' longest losing streak since 1982 and third-longest in the program's 120-season history.
Michigan State set the tone early with a stretch of three touchdowns in less than three minutes in the first quarter.
After a three-and-out to start the game, the Spartans drove 58 yards for its first touchdown, a 2-yard pass from Tyler O'Connor to Josiah Price.
