The long legal between Michigan State University and a group of its former student-athletes seems to be over.
On Friday, MSU and the 11 former members of the women's swimming and diving team came to a settlement in their court case that almost reached the Supreme Court. The agreement calls for the school to undergo a third party gender-equity review and create a plan addressing raised concerns and to ensure the athletic department is Title IX compliant by the end of the 2026-27 school year.
Last year, U.S. District Judge Hala Y. Jarbou ruled that MSU was not in compliance with Title IX, the law prohibiting discrimination based on gender by any school that receives federal funding.
