EAST LANSING - Gerald Owens arrived at Michigan State as a running back and will depart as a defensive tackle.
In the five seasons in between, he packed on about 60 pounds, moved from the offensive backfield to the front line of the defense and has appeared in 29 games.
Owens is now preparing for his last appearance at Spartan Stadium when Michigan State hosts Rutgers on Saturday.
"Thinking back on everything, I had crazy ride here," Owens, a fifth-year senior, said after practice Tuesday night. "I've been through a lot of stuff, I've been through a lot of adversity.
