EAST LANSING — Josiah Scott is healthy. So is Josh Butler.
Michigan State might have lost Justin Layne to the NFL a year early, but the Spartans do not expect a dropoff at cornerback with two returning starters who played much of last season without each other.
Scott and Butler started MSU’s Redbox Bowl loss to Oregon and helped shut down highly regarded quarterback Justin Herbert and the Ducks’ passing attack in a 7-6 loss.
“I just feel like we had played pretty good,” said Butler, a fifth-year senior.
