TOLEDO - Trent Gillison shook the stars from his eyes, took a deep breath and got back up.
Michigan State football fans, meet your next potential standout tight end.
Gillison, a four-star recruit from Pickerington Central in Ohio, had a close encounter with Detroit Cass Tech linebacker DeAndre Square in the third quarter of Thursday's high school opener at the Glass Bowl in Toledo.
Running a perfect route over the middle, Gillison caught a 15-yard pass from quarterback Demeatric Crenshaw in Cass Tech territory. A split second later, however, he endured a massive hit from Square, who sized up the 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end and sent him flying to the ground.
