Recruiting hadn’t exactly been the strongest area of Tom Izzo’s coaching tenure in East Lansing, but the Hall of Famer is getting better talent as the years go on. In fact, his 2016 recruiting class was arguably the best haul in his career and it’s only looking up in future years.
Despite the fact that he can get some of the nation’s top talent such as Gary Harris, Branden Dawson, Adreian Payne, Miles Bridges and Josh Langford, to name a few, he can also spot some of the diamonds in the rough.
Probably the most famous underdog that he unearthed was three-star forward Draymond Green followed by low-rated four-star Denzel Valentine.
