Rocky Lombardi said it at the Elite 11 camp: Michigan State’s 2017 recruiting class is almost set on offense and needs to start adding to the defensive side of the ball. The Spartans took one step closer to that on Monday when four-star defensive tackle Fred Hansard narrowed his list.

The New Jersey-native is the second in as many days to name the Spartans in his trimmed list as big defensive lineman Dalyn Wade-Perry did the same on Sunday.

Hansard’s list is pretty loaded and includes some regulars that seem to always make the cut with the Spartans for a recruit, including Penn State, Pitt and Tennessee.
