Michigan State RB LJ Scott relieved by career-high performance but enjoys pressure

EAST LANSING - LJ Scott knew exactly what the statistics were and didn't like what they reflected.

Five games into the season, Michigan State's leading rusher was quarterback Brian Lewerke. And that was with a veteran backfield featuring a trio of talents with starting experience.

Scott finally put a running back at the top of the season rushing totals for the Spartans by posting career-highs with 25 carries for 194 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-27 win at Minnesota on Saturday.

"It was definitely a lot of relief," Scott said Tuesday night after practice. "I hate to say it, but we shouldn't have the quarterback as our leading rusher.
