So much for that fifth year.
Michigan State running back LJ Scott declared for the 2019 NFL draft Wednesday, announcing on his Twitter account. This comes after Scott said he would be returning for a fifth season Nov. 10.
Scott, who battled an ankle injury and was limited to four games this season, indicated the decision was influenced by his injury-plagued 2018 year.
"Having dealt with various humbling injuries during the 2018 regular season, I initally believed the best plan for me was to return to the Spartans as a Redshirt Senior next season," Scott wrote.
