Michigan State players, coaches host more than 700 kids in annual youth clinic

EAST LANSING - Caleb Carignan doesn't have a favorite Spartan but now has plenty to choose from.

The 10-year old Flint resident spread a white T-shirt out on the turf inside the Duffy Daugherty Building on Saturday afternoon trying to identify more than a dozen autographs after participating in Michigan State football's annual youth clinic. Carignan's reason for being a Spartan fan is simple.

"My dad is," he said.

It was Carignan's first year attending Michigan State youth clinic and he came with his mom, Angela, and his 12-year-old sister, Elizabeth.

"He's just gotten really interested in football the last year," Angela said, "so we wanted to get him involved and we're Spartan fans so it's something that we thought he'd enjoy, and it's free.
