Brian Lewerke's pass was deflected and landed in the hands of Luke Campbell.
At 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, and wearing No. 62 for Michigan State, the redshirt sophomore was clearly not Lewerke's intended target, but the big man still rumbled for a 5-yard gain.
Campbell deserves credit for his awareness and quick hands and a reception for a left tackle is obviously very rare. At that point in the third quarter of last week's 38-31 win against Utah State, it was also a rare highlight for Michigan State's offensive line.
Penalties, a failure to generate a consistent push in the rushing attack and an inability to protect Lewerke were the biggest takeaways for the Spartans' front five, especially in the first half.
