Michigan State notes: Staff shakeup, in-home visits and another top five list

A recognizable former Michigan State player is making the move from East Lansing to Kalamazoo.

Thomas Kelly was announced as an assistant coach for Western Michigan on Monday by head coach Steve Hawkins.

"This is a dream come true in a sense with the location of the school and my dream of always being a Division I assistant coach," Kelley said in a release. "Being a Grand Rapids kid and close to home, this is the perfect spot for me and I am happy to be here."

The move comes after Kelley spent the past three seasons at Michigan State as a graduate assistant, a role that included assistant the coaching staff and suiting up as a practice player, among other things.
