EAST LANSING - Blake Bueter hasn't even appeared on Michigan State's depth chart through the first two weeks of the season.
The offensive lineman is, after all, just a redshirt freshman who joined the program as a walk-on. Make that, former walk-on.
Bueter was one of two players put on scholarship Monday, along with redshirt junior long snapper Ryan Armour.
A former standout two-way lineman at Detroit Catholic Central High School, Bueter accepted a preferred walk-on spot at Michigan State over multiple scholarship offers, including Central Michigan, Grand Valley State and Ferris State. He took a redshirt last year and earned playing time at left guard behind starter David Beedle in each of the first two games this season - a win at home against Utah State and a loss at Arizona State on Saturday.
