Michigan State had injury concerns before the season began and they continue to mount. Now four games into the year, the No. 20 Spartans (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) have dealt with key players missing on both sides of the ball with the rest of conference play starting when they host Northwestern (1-3, 1-1) on Saturday (noon, FS1) for homecoming.
"It would be easier not having to deal with that," Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said on a Sunday night teleconference, "but I've never gone and made excuses.
