East Lansing — One silver lining to missing out on a bowl game is the fact the Michigan State coaching staff got to spend the better part of the last few weeks on the recruiting trail.
Yes, they certainly would have preferred to do so while also practicing for a bowl game — or the Big Ten Championship game, something that has been fairly routine in Mark Dantonio’s 10 seasons at Michigan State. But the reality is the Spartans’ staff was able to focus during the latest evaluation period on final targets for the 2017 class.
