More than 48 hours after the game was settled on the field, there's still an argument about what happened before Michigan State and Michigan kicked off in East Lansing on Saturday.
Prior to Michigan's 21-7 win, there was an altercation between players on opposing teams. The incident occurred when Michigan State conducted its traditional pregame team walk the length of Spartan Stadium and Michigan players refused to move, resulting in shoving and words being exchanged.
Jim Harbaugh doubles down on MSU incident: 'That's the opposite of BS'
On the same day Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh doubled down on his criticism of the Spartans, Michigan State issued a defense via a statement emailed early Monday evening by athletic communications associate director Ben Phlegar:
"Regarding last Saturday's pregame timeline, both teams were distributed pregame timing sheets and were in communication earlier in the week about Michigan State's pregame tradition of walking the field upon arrival to Spartan Stadium," the statement reads.
