DIMONDALE -- Among the first tasks for Michigan State's freshmen upon arriving on campus earlier this summer was to hop on a scale for their first official weigh-in as a member of the team.
And for three of those freshmen, a second task came shortly thereafter: make that number on the scale bigger.
For three of Michigan State's incoming freshmen -- Foster Loyer, Gabe Brown and Marcus Bingham -- putting on more weight has been a key offseason emphasis on the road to potential playing time in 2018-19.
"We're the three freshmen that they've really emphasized being in the weight room, eating right, eating a lot," Loyer said last week after a Moneyball Pro-Am game.
