Shakur Brown came out of nowhere.
The Michigan State football defensive back flashed across the field at Spartan Stadium on Saturday evening and made a tremendous play, intercepting a Northwestern pass.
Brown held onto the ball, making his second interception of the game, while colliding with Northwestern receiver Berkeley Holman.
Holman remained on the field, creating a heartbreaking and frightening scene. Medics rushed onto the field. Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald pulled his team together and led a group prayer.
Medics strapped Holman to a board. At that moment, the game became insignificant in comparison. Holman was carted off the field, holding up his left hand.
