EAST LANSING — Halftime observations from Spartan Stadium, where No. 18 Michigan State leads Central Michigan, 17-3, after two quarters on Saturday.
Offense stagnant
It took two touchdown runs by QB Brian Lewerke to give MSU its points, but the Spartans’ offense has struggled to move the ball consistently. The Spartans have 185 yards, with Lewerke going 9 of 16 for 80 yards through the air. However, the junior QB was picked off in the end zone, looking off an open receiver the other way, and the Spartans went scoreless and gained 81 yards in the opening period.
