Michigan State football landed its first four-star recruit of the Mel Tucker era Saturday.
Offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark from St. Joseph Regional High in New Jersey became the Spartans’ 13th committed player for the 2021 class, picking MSU over finalists Nebraska, Rutgers, Mississippi, Tennessee and Arizona State.
The 6-foot-5, 295-pound VanDeMark, who is a four-star guard in 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, is the third offensive lineman in Tucker’s first full recruiting class. He joins East Lansing tackle Ethan Boyd and fellow New Jersey product guard Kevin Wigenton II. VanDeMark is from Montvale, and Wigenton is from 70 miles away in Princeton.
