EAST LANSING — The gates opened and people slowly started trickling into Spartan Stadium looking for seats, Michigan State football’s punters, kickers and long snappers starting their warmups. A video of Mel Tucker from a recent news conference filled the big screens inside, the blare of loud music along with it.
“How’d you sleep last night?” Tucker was asked.
“How’d I sleep?” he replied. “I slept fast.”
A fitting way to start Meet the Spartans. A signal the long slumber for MSU fans finally ended. A chance for their fervor to awaken to new faces and a new coach since the last time they filled the stadium.
