Dominique Long’s presence has been felt on Michigan State football’s special teams for three years. Chances are, any time you saw a spectacular tackle on a kickoff or a flash of green zooming down the field on a punt, it was No. 9.
On defense, though, his role — like the entire program the past few months — has been in flux.
This fall was supposed to be different. This season finally would give Long an opportunity to show his skills after being blocked at cornerback and safety his first three seasons.
Instead, more waiting.
