Looking back at Michigan State football’s 35-24 loss at Penn State and looking ahead to the Spartans’ Big Ten Champions Week game Friday at Maryland.
3 things we learned
Consistently inconsistent: MSU played one of its best halves of the season offensively, with 242 yards in the first 30 minutes to take a 21-10 lead into halftime. But the Spartans faded hard on offense, defense and special teams and the Nittany Lions roared back with 29 points over the first 18:36 of the second half.
Four of PSU’s five passing plays of 15-plus yards came after intermission — including a 49-yard TD — as it scored on three of its first four possessions.
