Let's take a look at Michigan State football’s 52-12 loss to No. 4 Ohio State and looking ahead to the Spartans’ regular-season finale Saturday at Penn State.
3 things we learned
Not ready for primetime: The Spartans received a significant lesson in what must be done to compete with the elite Buckeyes. Coach Mel Tucker got a game film he felt would show “the truth about what we are and what we are not right now” — one that exposed MSU’s deficiencies in preparation, scheme, personnel and execution. The Spartans struggled in every phase of the game, getting outgained 521 yards to 261 yards, to the point where Ohio State QB Justin Fields appeared bored in racking up four TDs and 303 total yards of offense himself.
