Well, that didn’t take long. After writing about the trend of Payton Thorne to Michigan State earlier today, the Spartans landed the three-star quarterback from Naperville, Ill.
Mark Dantonio and the staff have been pushing for a quarterback in the 2019 class and Thorne, who was committed to Western Michigan, was being courted by the Spartans despite his verbal pledge to the Broncos.
Michigan State offered him on Dec. 4, he visited a week later and committed on Friday evening. Things move fast in recruiting, especially with the early signing period approaching.
Thorne becomes the Spartans’ lone quarterback in the 2019 class and it’s always good to finish the cycle with at least one.
