Not only was Michigan State football’s win over then-No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday the biggest win of the season, but arguably the most crucial victory for Mark Dantonio in the regular season over his tenure as the Spartans’ head coach.
With the game on the line, tied 14-14, a Connor Cook-less Michigan State team had a chance to shrink the clock on the final drive of the game, getting the ball back with under four minutes left in the fourth quarter after a poor possession by the Buckeyes.
All the Spartans had to do was waste time and get into field goal position for their kicker, junior Michael Geiger, to have a shot.
