EAST LANSING — Michigan State football is getting some key defensive players back. The Spartans also will be missing some faces on offense.
Who will start at quarterback Saturday against No. 13 Northwestern remains in limbo, but junior Rocky Lombardi took snaps with the first-team offensive line during warmups before the 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Spartans opened the game on offense and they were led by Lombardi under center.
Lombardi was pulled early in the second quarter of MSU’s 24-0 loss to Indiana on Nov. 14, with redshirt freshman Payton Thorne playing the rest of the game.
