OK, so one call does not decide a game, but this blown call by the referees during the Michigan State football game against Nebraska on Saturday night was as egregious as they come.
By rule, a receiver may not step on the out-of-bounds line, come back into the field of play and be the first player to touch the ball. However, the officials allowed Nebraska’s Brandon Reilly to do just that as they claimed he was forced out of bounds, eliminating the rule.
Well, you be the judge:
According to the replay, the receiver looked to be scampering on the sideline without any force by the defender who was turned around, looking for the ball, but the refs got together and called it a touchdown catch.
