Adam Berghorst plans to arrive Sunday in East Lansing to take part in next week’s Michigan State football freshman mini-camp.
Whether it is just a brief pit stop on his way to professional baseball remains to be seen.
Berghorst, who graduated from Zeeland East last week, is one of two incoming Spartan football players who face a choice between college football and the minor leagues. He and Jase Bowen, from Toledo Catholic Central, were drafted Wednesday in the MLB draft, a little less than a month before they are scheduled to enroll at MSU for the second summer session that begins July 1.
