Michigan State football had its second returning starter in three days opt out of the 2020 season.
Senior offensive lineman Jordan Reid announced via Twitter that he plans to sit out this fall as a redshirt year and return to the Spartans for his fifth season.
“Due to all the uncertainty all the uncertainty in regards to COVID-19 and personal family experiences, I feel this is the best choice for me during these tough times,” Reid wrote.
It is a significant loss to this year’s offensive line. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound right tackle from Detroit Cass Tech has been the only healthy player up front the past two seasons, having started 26 consecutive games while others around him have battled injuries that resulted in 16 different starting offensive lines combined in 2018 and 2019.
