It’s not what we all expected when the season began, but compared to the other option, the 2018 Redbox Bowl in Santa Ana, Calif., isn’t all that bad for Michigan State football.
Everyone was betting on Michigan State making the trip out east to play in the Pinstripe Bowl just a couple days after Christmas against an ACC foe — a major yawn.
Luckily, the Spartans earned a big to play a top-tier Pac-12 opponent as the Oregon Ducks boast the potential No. 1 overall draft pick at quarterback in Justin Herbert. This is a good opportunity for the Spartans to show off their defense on the national stage by shutting Herbert down and, get this, it’s a New Year’s Eve matchup.
