Brian Lewerke’s eligibility has been exhausted and despite breaking some Michigan State yardage records, he wasn’t praised on the same level of a Connor Cook or Kirk Cousins because of his accuracy issues and lack of team success with him at the helm.
Outside of a 10-win season in 2017, Lewerke led two 7-6 teams in three years. While he was injured plenty throughout his career and playing through it may have contributed to his confidence issues and regression with accuracy, he still showcased his talent and looked like a top-tier quarterback on occasion (Northwestern and Penn State in 2017).
