Michigan State football has added an Australian punter for the second time this offseason.
After landing UTEP graduate transfer Mitchell Crawford in early March, the Spartans got a commitment in the 2021 recruiting class from Mark Vassett, who hails from Melbourne, Australia.
Vassett, at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, is the 12th commit in head coach Mel Tucker’s first recruiting class, he announced Friday morning on Twitter. He is on a full athletic scholarship.
His commitment comes after another Australian, Jack Bouwmeester, left the program after one season, which he did not play. Rather than going with Bouwmeester, veteran Jake Hartbarger took all of the reps at punter in his sixth and final season.
