Michigan State football is off to 2-0 start, with plenty of work to do

East Lansing — The record stands exactly where Michigan State expected it to just two weeks into the season — a perfect 2-0.

And the scoreboard has looked impressive, as well, the Spartans taking care of business Saturday by shutting out Akron, 52-0, a week after dispatching of Western Michigan, 35-13.

Two weeks, two Mid-American Conference opponents, two relatively easy victories.

But Mel Tucker sounded a familiar refrain moments after the Spartans’ first shutout in three seasons.

“Avoid being seduced by success,” the Michigan State coach said.

What Tucker could really be saying is avoid being seduced by success against overmatched opponents.
