EAST LANSING — “Neon, neon/Who knows how long, how long, how long?”
Somewhere, John Mayer might be buzzing about Michigan State’s new alternate football uniforms.
Unveiled in April and publicly derided since, the 20th-ranked Spartans will finally break out their neon green-trimmed jerseys, helmets and pants Saturday when they host Western Michigan (7:30 p.m./BTN).
The dark green jerseys say “STATE” written in big, block letters in neon , paired with white numbers. The helmets have the traditional Spartans logo, but in neon, with a white stripe down the middle.
