Conditions were tough, but MSU’s game plan made them worse
With a redshirt freshman at quarterback on the road and a swirling wind on a miserable day, Michigan State ran the ball often and well against an inviting Nebraska run defense.
Not often enough. Not close to often enough. Not on an early 3rd-and-4 when the Spartans hadn’t yet run for less than that. Not on the critical final drive, when there was plenty of time and their young QB and receivers were struggling, and Mother Nature was bearing down with swirling winds and snow.
