Coming from an extremely competitive and athletic family, Parks Gissinger was surprisingly overlooked as a recruit, ranked the No. 801 player in the 2018 class and 48th-best weak-side defensive end, but decided to commit to Michigan State from West Hills, Calif.
Gissinger was dubbed as the most underrated recruit in the Spartans’ class by some experts and they believed he was going to have an immediate impact in 2018.
Michigan State had one of the best defensive lines in the country with plenty of depth which kept Gissinger on the sideline, maintaining his redshirt. He didn’t play a single snap but it wasn’t due to his lack of talent but rather that depth.
