Michigan State football did not sign its top running back recruit Wednesday, so Mel Tucker dove right back into the transfer portal.
Auburn transfer Harold Joiner III announced via Twitter on Thursday evening he has committed to play for the Spartans next season. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound redshirt sophomore played in two games this season without a carry for the Tigers before entering the portal in early October.
A former four-star recruit, Joiner considered MSU out of Mountain Brook High in Birmingham, Alabama, before picking Auburn. He had 15 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns and six catches for 128 yards and another TD in 17 games the past three seasons.
