Saturday’s spring game marked a new beginning for the current Michigan State Football team. Gone are Connor Cook, Jack Conklin, Shilique Calhoun, Aaron Burbridge, Jack Allen and many others who contributed to one of the most successful senior classes in school history and returning is a group of inexperienced, yet talented, players.
The game, like most Michigan State spring contests, wasn’t high-scoring as the defense mostly took center stage with plenty of three-and-outs and redshirt freshman David Dowell even sealed the victory for the White team with an interception.
Fans that go to the spring game for a high-scoring, offensive showcase are usually left disappointed because Michigan State’s defense, although split, won’t allow easy scores even if the games mean absolutely nothing.
