The big topic this week has been Oregon’s ability to attract high-level recruits because of its association with Phil Knight, founder of Nike. Yes, having a billionaire alumni who has unlimited access to some of the coolest-looking gear is a huge advantage, but MSU has its own famous alums who can use their businesses and connections to attract Michigan State football and basketball recruits as well.
Magic Johnson and Mat Ishbia do a good job of being the faces of MSU alums, but money can only take the school so far. We need to get services involved.
