What if I told you a week ago that Michigan State’s defense would allow 31 points to Indiana and still come out on top? You probably would have called me crazy. Well, the offense picked up the defense (finally) on Saturday afternoon with a 40-31 victory.
The more realistic score would be 34-31 but the Hoosiers coughed up the ball on a last-second lateral by Michael Penix while trying to luck into a touchdown and it was picked up by Michael Dowell for six points for the Spartans.
Still, it was a solid overall performance from the offense and despite Brian Lewerke’s 18-of-36 line, he had one of his best games in recent memory with clutch plays all game long — and about 6-7 passes were dropped.
