If you’re a solid three-star recruit from the state of Ohio, there’s a good chance Ohio State won’t even give you a look. The Buckeyes and Urban Meyer are recruiting at such a high level that they can go into just about any state and become the favorite for local blue-chippers.

Those same three-star prospects have thrived in East Lansing with Michigan State. It’s not like Meyer is purposely shunning talent in his backyard, but he has enough four and five-star prospects knocking on his door to play football for the Buckeyes, he doesn’t have the spots for the local three-star kids.
