The approaching 2020 season has a couple of interesting non-conference battles including a matchup with Miami in East Lansing as well as a road game against BYU. Even a matchup with Toledo is more interesting than most non-conference battles from the past years from the Group of Five or FCS.
Michigan State’s home-and-home with Miami is exciting because it’s not exactly a game that anyone would have expected to see on the schedule a decade ago.
In the past, Michigan State has faced teams like Notre Dame, Boise State, Arizona State and Oregon in non-conference play and while everyone wants to see battles against elite Power Five teams and some of the best from the Group of Five, there are some games that would be welcomed more than most because they have more of a meaning.
