EAST LANSING — Michigan State football’s tradition of kicking off Labor Day weekend with its own kickoff will continue in 2019.
The Spartans’ season/home opener against Tulsa has been moved up a day to another Friday kickoff on Aug. 30. Game time and TV network will be announced at a later date, the school said Thursday.
MSU has played seven of its last eight season-openers on a Friday night, with only the 2017 game against Bowling Green being played on a Saturday. The school petitioned the Big Ten to play it on a Friday that year but was denied as the conference expanded its schedule to other teams.
