Honolulu — Michigan State started out strong in its first game of the season in Honolulu, Hawaii, but couldn’t hold off the Arizona Wildcats, losing 65-63 Friday in the opening game of the Armed Forces Classic doubleheader.
The Spartans jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead, and after Arizona scored its first basket following a called timeout, MSU freshman Joshua Langford and senior Eron Harris each answered with a 3-point basket. After a Joshua Langford layup with 13:48 left in the first half, the Spartans led the Wildcats, 19-4.
But Arizona regrouped and stormed all the way back.
