Michigan State expects to be ready for Utah State's fast-paced offense

EAST LANSING - When Kenny Willekes stepped off the practice field Tuesday, the Michigan State defensive end had sweat pouring off his head.

The heat index outside was north of 90 degrees early in the evening and he was in full pads.

It was a good way to prepare for what the No. 11 Spartans will face Friday night (7 p.m., BTN) when they host Utah State in the season opener. The Aggies will bring an up-tempo spread offense to East Lansing and give Michigan State an early test in endurance.

"They're going to obviously come at us real quick so they're going to try to get us out of position, try to get us not knowing our calls, not knowing what we're doing," Willekes said.
