EAST LANSING -- The first thing Michigan State looks to do every time it takes the field is establish the run. That much, Mark Dantonio has made clear throughout his tenure.
In the first game of the 2018 season, that didn't happen.
"I'm disappointed in what our run game produced," Michigan State co-offensive coordinator Dave Warner said on Friday night.
"We didn't have any consistency. Disappointed in that, absolutely."
The lack of a consistent run game and the offensive line struggles that caused that issue were perhaps the most concerning development in the Spartans' closer-than-expected 38-31 win over Utah State on Friday night.
