EAST LANSING - Josh Butler made his first college start at cornerback in Michigan State's season opener.
He was on the field for all of one snap before being tested.
Bowling Green wide receiver Datrin Guyton got behind Butler and hauled in an over-the-shoulder pass for a 45-yard gain down the sideline before being tackled out of bounds.
Butler's reaction to losing the one-on-one battle?
"They're on scholarship too, they play football too," Butler said. "Plays will happen, but I just got to come back and keep making more plays."
